What is it about these flowers that makes me want to record the day-to-day unfoldings of them?
They look like some sort of prehistoric bird beak emerging from an egg. Pterodactyl-like.
This one was a gift from the queen-Mum, who realized she would likely still be out of town (in southern, tropical climes) when it bloomed.
Knowing me, she probably figured pictures would be forthcoming. I've never met an amaryllis yet that I didn't photograph. Or want to photograph, anyway!
